Plot synopsis
Vadim Rudenko, a young hydraulic engineer and amateur filmmaker, participates in the construction of the Egyptian Aswan dam, to the detriment of his budding relationship with Vera, who remained in the USSR. Based on an epistolary story and unpublished archives, Alexander Markov brilliantly evokes a generation linking its individual happiness to the destructive rise of industrial socialism.
