The third part of the series of historical projects “Rus”, which includes the films “Peter I. The Last Tsar and the First Emperor” and “Empresses”.
The film will tell the story of Empress Catherine II, also known as Catherine the Great. She ruled from 1762 to 1796 and ascended the throne as a result of a palace coup against her husband, Peter III, who soon died under unclear circumstances. Catherine's era was marked by the maximum enslavement of the peasants, the comprehensive expansion of the privileges of the nobility and the annexation of new territories in the west and south to the Russian Empire.
