Plot synopsis

In 1945, prisoners of one of the Ural camps find diamonds at an old pre-revolutionary mine. British intelligence reports this to Churchill, who supports De Beers' diamond monopoly. During the Yalta Conference in February 1945, the Allies demand that the USSR pay off its Lend-Lease debt with Ural diamonds. Stalin agrees. However, as a result of a bloody riot and escape that took place in the camp on May 10, 1945, all mined diamonds disappear without a trace. Young officers of the NKVD must at any cost return the lost values to the Motherland.
