An ethnographic film about several generations of Evenks, Evens and Sakhas. Modern footage of the harsh nature of the Republic of Sakha and reindeer herding and fishing, traditional for its peoples, side by side with the VHS-camera records of 1995, which depict the family of Ushnitskaya Evdokia Innokentievna, born in 1933. In her native language, she talks about her life: wartime famine, parents, brothers, children's unpaid labor and how, at the age of 20, she first learned about the existence of money. “At the age of 20, I started working as a watchman in a national bank. Some special kind of paper was handed out there. It turned out that this is money, they get it for work. It turned out that before we worked for free ... ".
