Plot synopsis
1946. The Soviet government promises amnesty to Russians who emigrate to the West, who will return to the USSR. Doctor Aleksei Golovine, his French wife Marie and their son Serioja return to the USSR.
Arrived in Ukraine, the regime stops these "traitors" to Russia. The authorities are sparing the Golovins thinking that they could be useful to them. They try to adapt, to survive by trying not to be noticed. But in the middle of this community and hostile life, Marie cracks. She is looking for every possible opportunity to flee to France, even when the French Embassy is of no help to her, her French passport having been destroyed.
The TNP is on tour in Kiev, with the great Gabrielle Develay (interpreted by Catherine Deneuve) in the role of Marie Tudor. She is the one who will help Marie to escape.
She will also find support in the young Sacha, swimming champion, ready for all risks to move to the West.
