An epic of the wartime. August 1941. Residents of a small town in the Urals see their husbands and sons off to the front. Women take their husbands’ and sons’ place at the plants and factories showing extraordinary leaders' capabilities and will. The refugees arrive in the town together with an evacuated factory. Anne, the main character of the film, takes a woman with children to her house and all the rest follow her example.
