Feature film director, scriptwriter, producer.
Born on November 1st, 1951 in the town of
Nizhny Tagil. Graduated from the Urals
Polytechnic Institute (1974), department of
direction at VGIK (1984, class of Igor
Talankin). In 1975—1979 — assistant
director at the Sverdlovsk film studio. Since
1984 worked at «Lenfilm» studio as a director.
Director General of the «Dar-Film» company
(St. Petersburg), which he himself
founded in 1994. Winner of the State award
of the Russian Federation (2001, for
«Barrack»), award-winner of national and
international film festivals.
