1943, Ukraine’s northern border with Russia. Two German soldiers are fishing near a village. Suddenly, one of them sees something on the other side of the pond – a chicken, potential food in these hungry times. However, the attention of his partner, Ulrich, is taken by something quite different – he hears church bells not far away.
