Plot synopsis
Historical drama based on the novel «Godmother in Bloody Snows» by Khanty writer Eremey Aipin. A Khanty western about a Kazym rebellion of ostyak peoples, which began in 1933 and was stifled by the Red Army and Secret Police NKVD in 1934-35. Ostyaks rose a riot to throw the Reds away from their land in order to lead a free life under their own traditions. After the first Red detachment was defeated troops from Yekaterinburg arrived to neutralize the revolted. The survived went to the East to hide in tundra up the river Ob. The Red troops followed them, covering white snows of the North with blood.
