Leave of Absence is a portrait of the death of the working class − that can’t but disappear into the night. A man roams through rough urban landscapes searching for a light to hold on to − but there isn’t a way out from the slaughterhouse, the empty apartment, the silent morgue nor the dark concrete streets. Former film critic Anton Sazonov delivers a highly visual drama, shot on wide lenses and 4:3, emphasizing the powerlessness of a man caught in the claws of a desolate reality.
