Action takes place in Latvia in 1920-thies. Entrepreneurial Edgar Ceplis establishes a joint-stock company to produce and export clay bricks. He attracts many investors to his project in the hope of the promised huge profits. Soon it turns out that the selected clay is not valid for export bricks. Ceplis quickly sells all the shares and decides to lie low for a time while dreaming up plans of another affair.
