Plot synopsis
“Shoes” is an international project devoted to the victims of the Holocaust. It is a short film drama, dealing in a novel way with the theme of the catastrophe in which over 6 million Jews perished. The story told in the film occurs in the 1930s and 1940s, and deals with the fate of a pair of women’s shoes. Beginning in the window display of a fashionable shoe shop, the story tragically ends in Auschwitz. The director offers an original visual solution: only footwear appears in the frame. The film has no dialogue: the action unfolds to an original musical score created especially for this project, including recordings of national Jewish motifs. The music is performed by a symphonic orchestra.
