End of the Great Patriotic War. A 16-year German
sniper is left in a ruined house by retreating Nazis. A
Jewish family of disabled granddad, mother and a
15-year old girl returns home after evacuation. Their
house is just opposite the sniper’s. He watches their life
through optical device and soon falls in love with the girl.
The film speaks about the first love, the first suicide
attempt, a duel, self-sacrifice, brevity and humane
relations that are above all hardships of war.
