But until the 40s of the 20th century, another life was going on behind the walls of the Kremlin: The Secretary General, his officials, their departments – drivers, secretaries, cleaning ladies, all lived here with their families, in the very heart of this gigantic center of Power. Weddings and births were celebrated. The Kremlin boys played Cossacks-robbers on Ivanovo Square, the girls played hopscotch in the Alexandrovsky Garden.
