Plot synopsis
Nikolay Savelyev was wounded in the battle on May 9, 1945 due to sergeant Koren’s cowardice and became blind as a result of it. The nurse Svetlana brought him to his native town. The girl fell in love with Nikolay but his wife Tasya waited for him. Nikolay dreamed to work as a teacher again. Koren, whom Nikolay thought to be dead, was appointed the school director and tried to get rid of the witness of his betrayal. Having failed to withstand the difficulties of life Nikolay's wife left him. But he withstood all strokes of bad luck. He decided to stay at school and his meeting with Svetlana was the sign of a happy future.
