During the Civil War a little Gipsy boy Kolya Nagorny travelling with his folks along the steppes of southern Russia strayed from Gipsy camp and came to a Russian village. He overcame all difficult periods in the life of the country: kulaks' acts of sabotage, murders, set fires. Kolya became a Komsomol member, and bandits killed his sweetheart.
