New chief engineer of tractor plant Bakhirev sees the drawbacks of outdated production and in absence of the director begins to reconstruct the plant's workshops at his own risk. He is assisted by technologist Tina Karamysh. A deep feeling flashes between them, but it makes them suffer, since Bakhirev is married.
