Plot synopsis
According to statistics, today there are about one hundred thousand veterans of the Great Patriotic War (World War II). The number of these living witnesses is decreasing every day. Our children and grandchildren will know about this war only through films and historical documents. This is why it is more important than ever to record the living testimonies of living people today. Four films, four veterans, four stories about what they have been through and cannot forget for sixty years. Victor Astafiev said "So many soldiers, so many wars". Each of them has its truth and its war.
The film was shot from the memories of veteran Victor Iosifovitch Nikolaev who was a gunner at the front. Igor Iosifovich tells about his life during the war, how he found himself in a reserve regiment, how they crossed the Dnieper and the most terrible thing he saw in the war: how Russian soldiers went to the 'enemy.
