The film "The Word" is dedicated to the 90th birthday of Aleksander Isayevich Solzhenitsyn. The film includes rare foreign footage, as well as previously unseen interviews with Solzhenitsyn, in which he discusses modern literature and the future of Russia in the 21st century. The film also includes interviews with the actor Evgeniy Mironov, who remembers Solzhenitsyn, as well as Nikita Struve, who tells about the original publication of "The GULAG Archipelago" and reads some of Solzhenitsyn's letters. The film also includes materials from the Solzhenitsyn Literary Award ceremony. The writer's widow, Natalia Dmitrievna Solzhenitsyna discusses the writer's last days, his thoughts, goals and plans.
