Plot synopsis

The first directorial experience of Andrei Tarkovsky and Alexander Gordon. A screen version of Earnest Hemingway’s short story of the same name. Two young men clad in long black overcoats and wide-brimmed hats appear in a cafe of a backwater American town. Soon it becomes known that the strange guys are waiting for the arrival of the Swede Ole Anderson, who comes to the cafe at six sharp. They have an order to kill him…
