Plot synopsis
The young teacher Lobanovich, who has just finished his studies at the seminary, arrives in the remote village of Polissya de Telshino to teach the children of the peasants to read and write. The idea has been put in the minds of the seminarians with insistence that the Father-Tsar cares unceasingly about the common people, and people respond to him with sincere filial gratitude.
