1930s in the Russian North. On one of the summer white nights, a visitor intervenes in the unhurried life of the northern village. His attention is attracted by a wandering old man who collects songs and fairy tales. The visitor turns to a young village policeman and insists on the arrest of the tramp. But it turns out that the old man's grandfather sang songs to Alexander Pushkin himself...
