This historical film recounts the time when the Kazakh Khanate was ruled by Kasym Khan, the son of Zhanibek Khan. It was during these years that the state was formed and established its control over vast territories of Eastern Desht-i Kipchak. At this time, Kazakhs became known as an independent ethnic community far beyond their territories. This development was largely made possible by the Kaska zholy, a code of laws adopted in the Kazakh Khanate during the reign of Kasym Khan.
