Plot synopsis
The cruel laws of the environment, whose members are divided into hierarchical clans: that of "thieves" and that of "workers", dictate its conditions of conduct. The prison commander, Major Kalinin, sees the prisoners as not just criminals but people who have done wrong and tries to give everyone a chance to redeem themselves. But not all accept these measures and punish those who decide to make amends to the point of killing them.
