C'est l’histoire du bon docteur Aibolit qui soigne les animaux, de son singe Tchili et du chien Avva ainsi que du bandit Barmaleï qui ne fait pas beaucoup peur. Une comédie excentrique avec des éléments de cirque et de pantomime.
Les célèbres aventures du docteur Aibolit et de ses amis sont écrites par l’écrivain et traducteur russe Korneï TCHOUKOVSKi (Корней ЧУКОВСКИЙ) qui a son tour s’est largement inspiré des œuvres de l'écrivain irlandais Hugh LOFTING - The Story of Doctor Dolittle, The voyages of Doctor Dolittle etc.
