Biography
Director, scriptwriter. Born in Kharkov. Graduated from Kharkov Polytechnic Institute (1967), VGIK (1978, class of Yu.Yegorov) Since 1978 worked at M.Gorky movie studio as a director. In the 90s worked on TV as creative supervisor, producer, director, scriptwriter, host. Professor (classes of movie and TV directing, Higher Courses for Scriptwriters and Directors, education Centre with VGIK). Merited Worker of Arts of the Russian Federation. Member of the National Academy of Film Art and Sciences of Russia. Member of the Academy of Film Arts «Nika». Winner of the Lenin Komsomol Prize (1981), winner of the A.P.Dovzhenko Prize (1982), Secretary of the Filmmakers’ Union of Moscow. Member of the Board of the Filmmakers’ union of the Russian Federation.
