Taymyr, north of the Arctic Circle: while still a student at boarding school, Anna Momde, a young Nganasan woman, was featured in a 1954 documentary film portrait treating cultural assimilation to the ideals of the USSR. The indoctrination proved effective: Anna would go on to become an official of the Communist Party. 30 years later, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, she looks back on her time as part of the system, as well as at the gradual extinction of her own culture. Together with Anna, Lehmuskallio and Lapsui rewatch the original film, accompanying her on a journey into the realm of memory.
