Plot synopsis
The autumn of 1918. Fedor, together with gymnasia student Mitya and worker Nastya is sent by the underground revolutionary committee to the first All-Union Youth Congress as a delegate from railway depot of a small southern town occupied by the White Guards. On their way a homeless boy Okurok and a girl Mary join them. They have to overcome a lot of hardships and terrible losses on their way to Moscow: Mitya is killed, Mary is executed together with a group of Bolsheviks, Nastya is killed by a bandit... Badly wounded Fedor arrives at the Congress were he addresses the audience on behalf of his killed comrades and those left behind the front line.
