The World War II. Father Alexander decently ministers on the occupied territory of the USSR — he helps the prisoners of war in word of the Lord and deed, collecting clothes and food for them, guarding those who weak. While he has to tolerate the occupational regime, he goes through doubt, humiliation and suffering, and feels like being between a rock and a hard place… His mission of mercy turns into a tragic trial, making the priest a hostage of the lurid history of the 20th century.
