About the life of two people living in the promiscuity of a communal apartment in a small provincial town. Alexandra is about thirty years old and has just suffered a serious emotional trauma: the separation from her loved ones. Everything bothers her, her daily work in a music school, her students, the situation at home, her sister, her mother.
Unexpectedly, Fariatiev, a dentist, fantasist, in love with Alexandra, arrives in the communal apartment. This idealistic dreamer makes Alexandra get closer to her mother and sister again and regains confidence in herself. But suddenly she leaves Fariatiev. She goes to find her lover Batkhounov, without realizing that she could lose Fariatiev forever....
