Аннотация
На зелёной полянке с озером заяц-дирижёр репетирует с хором, в котором поют котята, лисички, медвежата, лягушата и другие зверята — каждой твари по паре. Из озера-моря за ними наблюдают кит и ерши. Заяц строг и заставляет много раз повторять один и тот же фрагмент где каждый зверёныш поет своим голосом. Попутно заяц выправляет неправильно стоящих — подбородок выше, пятки вместе, носки врозь.
Зверятам надоедает, они срывают репетицию, начинают петь чужими голосами и выполнять несвойственные им действия. Заяц пытается их усмирить, но лисички поджигают озеро-море. Все дружно бросаются его тушить. Прилетевшая бабочка тушит пожар и обрадованные звери возвращаются к своим голосам и построившись «в паровозик» уходят за холм, напевая песенку. Заяц остаётся в недоумении, но пробует помычать коровой и тоже присоединяется к компании.

Путаница
Замяукали котята:
«Надоело нам мяукать!
Мы хотим, как поросята,
Хрюкать!»
А за ними и утята:
«Не желаем больше крякать!
Мы хотим, как лягушата,
Квакать!»
Свинки замяукали:
Мяу, мяу!
Кошечки захрюкали:
Хрю, хрю, хрю!
Уточки заквакали:
Ква, ква, ква!
Курочки закрякали:
Кря, кря, кря!
Воробышек прискакал
И коровой замычал:
Му-у-у!
Прибежал медведь
И давай реветь:
Ку-ка-ре-ку!
И кукушка на суку:
«Не хочу кричать куку,
Я собакою залаю:
Гав, гав, гав!»
Только заинька
Был паинька:
Не мяукал
И не хрюкал —
Под капустою лежал,
По-заячьи лопотал
И зверюшек неразумных
Уговаривал:
«Кому велено чирикать —
Не мурлыкайте!
Кому велено мурлыкать —
Не чирикайте!<
Не бывать вороне коровою,
Не летать лягушатам под облаком!»
Но веселые зверята —
Поросята, медвежата —
Пуще прежнего шалят,
Зайца слушать не хотят.
Рыбы по полю гуляют,
Жабы по небу летают,
Мышки кошку изловили,
В мышеловку посадили.
А лисички
Взяли спички,
К морю синему пошли,
Море синее зажгли.
Море пламенем горит,
Выбежал из моря кит:
«Эй, пожарные, бегите!
Помогите, помогите!»
Долго, долго крокодил
Море синее тушил
Пирогами, и блинами,
И сушеными грибами.
Прибегали два курчонка,
Поливали из бочонка.
Приплывали два ерша,
Поливали из ковша.
Прибегали лягушата,
Поливали из ушата.
Тушат, тушат — не потушат,
Заливают — не зальют.
Тут бабочка прилетала,
Крылышками помахала,
Стало море потухать —
И потухло.
Вот обрадовались звери!
Засмеялись и запели,
Ушками захлопали,
Ножками затопали.
Гуси начали опять
По-гусиному кричать:
Га-га-га!
Кошки замурлыкали:
Мур-мур-мур!
Птицы зачирикали:
Чик-чирик!
Лошади заржали:
И-и-и!
Мухи зажужжали:
Ж-ж-ж!
Лягушата квакают:
Ква-ква-ква!
А утята крякают:
Кря-кря-кря!
Поросята хрюкают:
Хрю-хрю-хрю!
Мурочку баюкают
Милую мою:
Баюшки-баю!
Баюшки-баю!

Un petit moineau bondit
Et se mit à meugler comme une vache :
Meuh !
Un ours accourut
Et se mit à rugir :
Cocorico !
Et le coucou, sur sa branche :
« Je ne veux plus faire coucou,
Je vais aboyer comme un chien :
Ouaf, ouaf, ouaf ! »
Seul le petit lièvre
Était sage :
Il ne miaulait pas,
Il ne grognait pas —
Il restait sous le chou,
Babillant à la manière des lièvres,
Et exhortait les bêtes insensées :
« Que celui qui doit pépier
Ne ronronne pas !
Que celui qui doit ronronner
Ne pépie pas !
Une corneille ne deviendra pas une vache,
Et les grenouilles ne voleront pas sous les nuages ! »
Mais les joyeuses petites bêtes —
Les porcelets, les oursons —
Faisaient encore plus de bêtises
Et ne voulaient pas écouter le lièvre.
Les poissons se promenaient dans les champs,
Les crapauds volaient dans le ciel,
Les souris attrapèrent le chat
Et l’enfermèrent dans une souricière.
Et les petites renardes
Prirent des allumettes,
Allèrent vers la mer bleue,
Et mirent le feu à la mer bleue.
La mer brûle en flammes,
Une baleine surgit de la mer :
« Hé, pompiers, accourez !
À l’aide, à l’aide ! »
Longtemps, longtemps, le crocodile
Éteignit la mer bleue
Avec des pâtés, des crêpes
Et des champignons séchés.
Deux poulets accoururent,
Arrosant avec un petit tonneau.
Deux petits poissons arrivèrent,
Arrosant avec une louche.
Des grenouilles accoururent,
Arrosant avec un seau.
Ils éteignent, éteignent — sans éteindre,
Ils arrosent — sans rien noyer.
Alors un papillon arriva,
Battit des ailes,
Et la mer commença à s’éteindre —
Et s’éteignit.
Quelle joie chez les bêtes !
Elles rirent et chantèrent,
Tapèrent des oreilles,
Trépignèrent des pieds.
Les oies se remirent
À crier comme des oies :
Ga-ga-ga !
Les chats se mirent à ronronner :
Mrr-mrr-mrr !
Les oiseaux pépièrent :
Tchic-tchiric !
Les chevaux hennirent :
Hiii !
Les mouches bourdonnèrent :
Bzzz !
Les grenouilles coassèrent :
Kwa-kwa-kwa !
Et les canetons cancanèrent :
Coin-coin-coin !
Les porcelets grognèrent :

Et l’on berce Mourotchka,
Ma petite chérie :
Dodo, fais dodo !

The kittens began to mew:
“We are tired of meowing!
We want, like piglets,
To grunt!”
And after them the ducklings:
“We don’t want to quack anymore!
We want, like little frogs,
To croak!”
The piglets began to meow:
Meow, meow!
The kittens began to grunt:
Oink, oink, oink!
The ducks began to croak:
Quack, quack, quack!
The hens began to quack:
Quack, quack, quack!
A little sparrow hopped in
And mooed like a cow:
Moo!
A bear came running
And started to roar:
Cock-a-doodle-doo!
And the cuckoo on a branch:
“I don’t want to cuckoo anymore,
I’ll bark like a dog:
Woof, woof, woof!”
Only the little hare
Was well-behaved:
He didn’t meow,
He didn’t grunt—
He lay under the cabbage,
Murmuring in a hare-like way,
And tried to reason with the foolish animals:
“Those who are meant to chirp—
Don’t purr!
Those who are meant to purr—
Don’t chirp!
A crow cannot become a cow,
And frogs cannot fly beneath the clouds!”
But the merry little animals—
The piglets and the bear cubs—
Mischieved more than ever
And would not listen to the hare.
Fish walked across the field,
Toads flew through the sky,
The mice caught the cat
And locked it in a mousetrap.
And the little foxes
Took some matches,
Went to the blue sea,
And set the blue sea on fire.
The sea is burning in flames,
A whale rushed out of the sea:
“Hey, firefighters, run!
Help, help!”
For a long, long time the crocodile
Tried to put out the blue sea
With pies and pancakes
And dried mushrooms.
Two chickens came running,
Pouring water from a little barrel.
Two small fish swam up,
Pouring from a ladle.
Frogs came running,
Pouring from a bucket.
They try to put it out — but can’t,
They pour and pour — but cannot quench it.
Then a butterfly flew in,
Flapped its wings,
And the sea began to go out —
And went out.
Oh, how the animals rejoiced!
They laughed and sang,
Clapped their ears,
Stamped their feet.
The geese began again
To cry like geese:
Honk-honk-honk!
The cats began to purr:
Purr-purr-purr!
Chirp-chirp!
Neigh!
The flies buzzed:
Buzz!
The frogs croaked:
Croak-croak-croak!
