Samson Samsonov (son véritable nom était Edelstein) est né le 23 février 1921 à Novozybkov dans la région de Briansk. A partir de 1939 il est acteur au Mosfilm. En 1959 il est diplômé de l’Institut national du cinéma (VGIK). Depuis 1954, il est réalisateur au Mosfilm.
