Biography
Born on January 9, 1924 in Tbilisi.
In 1942-1943 studied at the building faculty of the Tbilisi Institute of Railway Engineers, from 1943-1944. - at the vocal faculty of the Tbilisi State Conservatory and at the choreographic studio at the Tbilisi Opera House.
In 1945 he transferred to the Moscow State Conservatory. Tchaikovsky (teacher N. Dorliak). In 1951 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK (workshop of I. Savchenko, then A. Dovzhenko). He worked as a director on film / them. Dovzhenko, c / s "Armenfilm", "Georgia-Film".
In 1973 he was arrested and convicted on trumped-up charges. He spent four years in a maximum security camp. He was released in 1978. There was no official rehabilitation. After his release, he lived in Tbilisi, worked for the film company Georgia-Film.
People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1990).
Died July 20, 1990
