The film begins by telling the story of events that happened twenty years earlier. Kostya Gumankov, who was then a young computer scientist, through various intrigues manages to take part in a tourist trip to Paris. But instead of shopping, like all "normal" Soviets, Kostya fell in love, and what's more, with his boss's mistress. They live a true love, Kostya ruins himself on flowers and champagne. But the Parisian tale ends and they must separate. Twenty years later, having become a wealthy businessman, Gumankov leaves for Paris....
