Plot synopsis
The film is inspired by a story by Yuri Poliakov, who played an important role in Russian literature by tackling in his work one of society's most important taboos. The story reveals the prevailing morality in the Red Army, which had in the past always been idolised. Husein Erkenov developed the idea further and created, or rather demonstrated, the world of the army as a cruel stage for master-slave relations. He investigates the influence of the hierarchy in the army, partly created by the soldiers themselves, in terms of human dignity. He looks at the person hidden under an anonymous uniform.According to Erkenov Sto dnei do prikaza is also a kind of dialogue with Tarkovsky's idea of sacrifice. The tension between the substance of the cruel portrait of reality in the Red Army and, on a formal level, the stunning aesthetics, is one of the film's most important qualities. The festival programme also includes Erkenov's latest film Golod.(https://iffr.com/en/1992/films/sto-dnei-do-prikaza)
