Red Village was filmed in commemoration of Stalin's "Ten Year Plan" for Soviet progress. The heroine is Marina (R. Sverdola), a blacksmith's daughter who leaves her village to study engineering. Returning home, Marina puts all thoughts of romance aside, dedicating herself to industrializing the community. First, however, she must overcome the resistance of mill-owner Bunitsevich (S. Shkurat), who stoops so low as to sabotage the new turbine engines which were designed to bring his operation into the 20th century. With the help of humble millworker Lyosha (I. Chuvelyev), the villain is foiled and the glories of Soviet industrialization are allowed to bloom full flower.
