Plot synopsis

1830s, Moldavia. The stable boy Todor has fallen in love with his master's maid, Justinia. Arrived at forced labor, Todor organized an escape and, along with a group of like-minded people, took refuge with the outlaws. Thus, under the leadership of Ataman Todor Tobultok, the Moldovan rebels, who called themselves Haiduks, began a struggle against the tyranny of the landowners.
