First half of the 11th century. After the death of Prince Vladimir, one of his sons, Yaroslav, conquered the Kiev throne. The film is about the struggle waged by the new Kiev prince against internal and external enemies of Russia. In parallel, the plot of Yaroslav the Wise's dramatic love for a simple girl Lyubava develops.
