Plot synopsis
1943, the blockade of Leningrad. In the middle of winter and under the bombs, the inhabitants of Leningrad built a railway in the direction of the free territories. Two young girls take part in the construction, then accompany the train crew at night under the German fire, to supply the besieged city with basic necessities and try to evacuate its inhabitants.
The 33 kilometers of the railway were built over 17 days by 5,000 inhabitants of Leningrad, mainly women and children. The official name of this line was The Road to Victory, but those who drove the trains called it death row. Of the 600 people who worked there, 400 perished.
