Biography
Born 1946 in Tallinn, PriitPärngraduated from the Tartu University’sDepartment of Biology in 1970, and worked at the Tallinn Botanical Garden as a plant ecologist. He has been active as a caricaturist and illustrator since the end of the 1960's, and as a freelance graphic artist since the early 1980's. Over the past 25 years,Pärn has had over 30 art shows in Europe and Canada. From 1976 to 1994, he worked as an art and animation director at the theTallinnfilm Studios. Since 1994, he has been working at EestiJoonisfilm Studio. PriitPärn has made 11 animated films as well as a host of short films, commercials, etc., for which he received more than 80 honors and prizes, including the ASIFA Life Achievement Award in 2002, and three other life achievement awards.Pärn has acted as a jury member at more than 30 internationals film festivals, and he taught at film schools in 17 countries all over the world. From 1994 to 2007,Pärn was the artistic director of the Animation Department of the Turku Art Academy in Finland, and from 2006 on, he has been a head of the animation department in the Estonian Art Academy. In 2008, PriitPärnwas made a member of European Film Academy.
