Plot synopsis
“Citizen Poet: Run of the Year” is not a sequel to the eponymous satirical project, which was very popular in Russia in 2011-2012. Neither is it the project’s conclusion. The film offers reminiscences about the most vibrant, tempestuous and thrilling year in the political life of the country over the past 20 years. It is a reflection on the reasons for the swift awakening of the civil consciousness of millions of people. It is a message to our immediate future. Of course it is about the project “Citizen Poet” too. How did it become possible at all? Why was it acceptable? Why was it shut down? These questions are discussed by the poet Dmitry Bykov, the actor Mikhail Yefremov, the producer Andrei Vasiliev as well as participants of the project, its fans, sponsors and opponents.
