Plot synopsis
“Communion with the sea, as with God”. Varzuga is a remote village on the Kola Peninsula, connected only recently by road. A 4th-generation Navy man, now Igumen Mitrofan (Badanin), historian of theology and the Far North, talks about the Pomors and the magical civilisation of the Lapps.
