Plot synopsis
BREAKFAST ON THE GRASS Estonia, 1988, 25 min Section: Kids + Parents = Cinema. Estonian animation 12+ Screenings Sept. 25, 2012, 13:30, ‘Equator’ hotel Synopsis If any film could be considered a symbol of the Soviet period’s absurdity, it has to be Breakfast on the Grass. It was originally supposed to be a story about four peoplegetting ready for a party, when everyone is looking for provisions for the big gathering. Then Manet makes an appearance, and then four stories are told in different styles. Every character debases himself in some way in this system. Anna sells herself for apples, Georg consents to everything to get a black overcoat, and white slacks, Berta has to give up her child to get her face back, and Eduard sucks up to a lady with connections to sneak him into her boss’s office to get a stamp on an access permit of a garden.
