Plot synopsis
On November 7, 1910, universally acclaimed literary genius Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910) unexpectedly passed away in the provincial railroad station of Astapovo while travelling to an unknown destination. At the time, he was torn between fame and wealth, and the desire to live according to his principles. He had recently left his wife Sofya and their family estate at Yasnaya Polyana, where he'd spent most of his life. What was he trying to escape and where was he going? This compilation film, which reveals many unknown facts as well as original photos and archival footage, recounts the writer's ultimate quest.
