Plot synopsis
Sixteen-year-old Kostya, a musician from a provincial town, is invited to Moscow to participate in a television music competition. On the evening before his trip, he wanders the streets, dreaming of his future success. He and some other boys take a car out on a joyride, but the trip ends tragically when they knock over a stranger. It's a hit-and-run: the boys leave the damaged car and run away. Kostya goes to Moscow, but fails to win the competition. He must return home, where detectives are already investigating his crime. His mother and girlfriend are willing to do anything to save him from prison, but Kostya chooses his own way...
