Plot synopsis
The 1870-s. The Bulgarian patriots have risen against the centuries of Turkish rule. Russia comes to the aid of her Slavic brothers. The Russian soldiers and the Bulgarian volunteers are fighting side by side. Just as the friendship of characters grew in battle, so did the friendship of the film crews of the two countries grow in working on the picture, giving birth to the Bulgarian film industry.
The film was awarded the Premium for the Best Film Director’s Work at the YIII International Film Festival in Cannes, France (1955).
