Biographie
Khodjakouli Narliev est né le 21 janvier 1937 à Achkhabad dans le Turkménistan. Il étudie au VGIK (Institut national de la cinématographie) sous la direction de B. Voltchek, en sort en 1960 avec le diplôme d'opérateur et commence à travailler au Studio Turkmenfilm. Il collabore aux premiers films de Mansourov, puis débute dans la mise en scène de fiction en 1970. En 1973 il obtient le Prix national de l'Union soviétique, en 1978 le Prix Lénine du komsomol de Turkménie. Il est Artiste du peuple de Turkménie depuis 1986.
