Plot synopsis
Peasant Vasily left his wife and son Yakov and went to town to work in a fish processing factory. Forgetting his family, he bonded with the beautiful Malva and lived peaceful years. But Yakov grew up and realized that prospects for the future were poor in the village. So he decided to go and join his father. The relations between Malva and Yakov led Vassili to incessant quarrels with his mistress and finally led him to return to his village. But the proud Malva rejected Yakov.
