Plot synopsis
At the film’s centre stands the story of an army Captain, who escorts a soldier- deserter to his unit. The two men spend a day in Moscow, where they clash with the realities of life in a modern megapolis: sometimes comic, sometimes tragic. The emerging friendship between the officer and the soldierdeserter changes the Captain’s attitude to life. The cynical Captain finds once again a meaning in life and faith in man.

Commentaries and bibliography
Andrei Mizgirev: The Convoy (Konvoi, 2012), Laura TODD, kinokultura.com, 2013

The film takes place over the course of one day in present-day Moscow. A convoy of officers and sergeants leads a prisoner through the streets of the city – and this tiny world is the setting of the film’s story. Mizgiryov wrote the screenplay himself. “I hope that Convoy will be nothing like my previous films”, the director says. “I want to do something completely new”.
Filming will begin in spring of 2011. Though the film’s budget is shrouded in secrecy, we know that Convoy has been included in the list of arthouse features partially financed by Russia’s Ministry of Culture. Pavel Lungin Studio is handling the film’s production.
